Romy about to cry!Check out her "take over the world" eyebrows, and her red-ish hair. She's irish for sure.
Tonight was the first time Romy was fed from a bottle!!! Up until now she was fed through a gavage tube, which is a little plastic tube that goes down her throat and into her belly. She made a funny face when she first tasted it, but after that I couldn't pull her away. She managed to drink 15 out of 22 cc's before tiring out. She had a few brady's and de-satted quite a bit, so they might hold off on anymore bottle feedings until she's more mature (they normally don't start bottle feeding until they're 34 weeks, but they wanted to test her). She was struggling so much toward the end of her feed that her whole body turned blue.....man that was scary stuff. It's kind of hard to feed her because you have to extend her neck and push her chin up, and watch the moniters for any slight deceleration. And burping her scares the hell outta me, because you gotta beat her kinda hard, but she's so tiny! As for her oxygen she's at 2 liters of pressure and is anywhere from 23-40% oxygen, depending if she's eating or not. She's at 2 pounds and 9 ounces now, but we expect her to lose weight since she's working so hard to eat on her own. So overall she's doing well, the whole NICU thing is getting old.....I just wanna take her home!!!
